: Suffering from Painful Hemorrhoids? Outpatient Surgery Could Be the Solution

Painful hemorrhoids

Don't let painful hemorrhoids ruin your quality of life.

Are you suffering from painful hemorrhoids? Has diet and lifestyle change not been enough to alleviate the problem? Then outpatient hemorrhoid surgery at Outpatient Services East might be the solution you’ve been looking for.

Is Hemorrhoid Surgery Right for You?

Hemorrhoid surgery is generally recommended for those who suffer from debilitating pain and discomfort due to hemorrhoids. It’s an option for those who find that a change in diet and lifestyle just isn’t enough.

Hemorrhoid surgery is safe and effective for most patients and is generally performed in an outpatient setting with patients being able to return home to recover that same day. Typically patients have two options: Hemorrhoidectomy and PPH.

Hemorrhoidectomy

The surgical procedure used to remove Hemorrhoids is called a Hemorrhoidectomy. The surgeon slices away the hemorrhoids through a series of small cuts using a scalpel.

The surgery is generally performed using a local anesthetic, though some surgeons prefer to operate with the patient asleep under general anesthesia. This is typically an outpatient procedure and the patient can go home the very same day.

Recovery from this procedure typically takes about two weeks. The area around the surgery, since it is such a sensitive area, will be tender and painful. The patient is advised to take it easy and follow a strict diet to avoid constipation and possible complications.

PPH or Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids

In this procedure the surgeon moves and staples the hemorrhoids to cut off blood supply and “starve” the hemorrhoids. Without adequate blood supply, the hemorrhoids eventually wither away.

This is often used to treat hemorrhoids that have not prolapsed and typically has a faster recovery time than a full hemorrhoidectomy.
